MAC Address Decoder

This tool identifies the manufacturer given the Ethernet MAC address by looking up the first 24 bit in the registration table. Insert one or more MAC addresses per line or copy-paste the output of your arp command. To learn more about a specific IP-Address, try the Check-IP tool.

Medium Access Control (MAC)

An Ethernet network uses two hardware addresses which identify the source and destination of each frame sent by the Ethernet. The hardware address is also known as the Medium Access Control (MAC) address, in reference to the standards which define Ethernet. Each computer network interface card is allocated a globally unique 6 byte/48 bit link address when the factory manufactures the card. The first 3 bytes/24 bit of the MAC address indentify the manufacturer.

Hint

  • Use arp -a to see the content of your arp-table.
  • >arp -a
